Take a train following to Murmansk and get off at Belomorsk.
Take a taxi (in 2014 it costs about 150–170 rubles) and get to the bridge over the Kisly Pudas creek (the distance is about 10 kilometers). Get off the taxi and walk about 1.2 kilometers along a wide smooth path.
Option I. Drive out the M18 route. Turn at the way marking to the route leading to Belomorsk.Cover the distance of about 30 kilometers reaching a village of Vygostrov. Turn left at the Belomorsk Petroglyphs sign. Drive out an unmade road leading to the bridge over the Kisly Pudas covering the distance of 900 meters. After crossing the bridge, walk about 1.2 kilometers along a wide smooth path.
Option II. Drive out the M18 route. Turn at the way marking to the route leading to Belomorsk.Cover the distance of about 30 kilometers and reach the village of Vygostrov. Walk from Vygostrov northward the distance of about 2 kilometers along the path. The route is recommended for people who are quite fit and trained as they are supposed to cross the coulee of a river and sometimes do that over the stepping stones.
Note.It is advisable seeing around Zalavruga petroglyphs either in the morning or in the evening when slanting rays of the sun help see the petroglyphs’ outline clearly. Seeing around these petroglyphs using flashlights at night in late summer or in the autumn is especially impressive.
